Liverpool are top of the league despite a barrage of problems. The Reds have faced obstacle after obstacle in the form of illness, injury and scheduling. Yet here we are, top of the league and with the advantage. One man has been a consistent driving force. Jose Enrique has named Andy Robertson his Liverpool player of the season so far.
Jose Enrique at Liverpool
Liverpool signed Jose Enrique from Newcastle for a reported £6m in 2011.
He went on to make 99 appearances in all competitions across five seasons with the Reds.
The Spaniard’s final three seasons with the Reds were plagued by a knee injury.
Enrique made just 12 league appearances in his final three seasons but he was always a well regarded figure with the club and the fans, reflected in him captaining the club in his final games.

We’ll never forget that he was involved in one of Luis Suarez’s finest goals – that one against Newcastle United.
Jose Enrique on Andy Robertson
There have been some strong consistent performers for the Reds this season but none more so than our left back.
On Instagram, Jose Enrique named Andy Robertson as his Liverpool player of the season so far.
The ex-Red posted a photo of the Scotsman captioned:
“@andyrobertson94 in the Premier League 2020/21:
• Most passes made (1181)
• Most crosses (144)
• Most assists by a defender (5)
• Played every minute (1440)
“Player of the season for me for now by far . Who you think is been our player of the season for now?”
What RTK has to say
It’d be tough to argue with the Jose Enrique when Andy Robertson has been so crucial this term.
The Scotland captain has been flying up and down the wing with relentless determination.
He is a human pendulum, he’s up and down and up and down, never tiring.
Without him we lose our width, we lose our edge.
