Liverpool have been devastated by injuries this season. Some have hit harder than others. One blow obviously stands out above the rest as the Reds still deal with the absence of their talismanic centre back. Some Liverpool fans have reacted to a Virgil van Dijk injury update.

The Van Dijk injury
This season’s Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park will live in infamy.
The Reds were robbed of three points and two stars when they made the short trip to Everton.
Early on in the game Virgil van Dijk was lunged at by Jordan Pickford.
The Dutchman was forced off and bizarrely the Everton keeper wasn’t sent off for his reckless tackle.
A day later we learned the worst, Virgil van Dijk was ruled out for the season with a ruptured ACL.
Van Dijk injury update
Kopites are anxious to see their talisman back in action.
The Dutchman is central to the Reds’ success.
He provides a calming presence as well as an impassable wall in defence.
He is also crucial to our build up play with his range of passing.
Jürgen Klopp delivered a Virgil van Dijk injury update ahead of the Reds’ game with Southampton, saying:
“Good, very good. I have no problem with talking about Virgil van Dijk. It’s very good but still a long way to go, that’s this kind of injury.
“I’m happy when I see these videos, to be honest, because it just shows that he makes good progress. But it will still take a lot of time, that’s how it is.
“I would like to say something else but these are the facts, unfortunately.”
Fans react to update
