Liverpool interest in Yves Bissouma

At the moment it looks as though Gini Wijnaldum will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

The Reds midfielder entered the final year of his contract last summer and there’s been no reported progress on a new deal.

As a result the club are being linked with a number of different potential replacements.

ESPN has claimed that Liverpool are considering moving for Yves Bissouma in a £30m swoop.

Defensa Central has suggested that Real Madrid are also battling for the 24-year-old midfielder.

Graham Potter on Bissouma rumours

The gossip pages can be quite irritating for managers, they can unsettle players.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, as reported by the Brighton & Hove Independent, Graham Potter commented on reported Liverpool interest in Yves Bissouma:

“There have been no approaches.

“As I’ve said before, just because it’s in the media, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true.

“My focus is on Yves and how I can help him improve and I think he’s still got some improvement to make.

“That’s my focus with him, to try and help him reach his full potential. He’s got some work to do yet, so that’s what we are focusing on.”

What RTK has to say

Just because there’s been no approaches doesn’t mean Liverpool aren’t interested in Yves Bissouma.

We know that Michael Edwards can spring a transfer on us from seemingly out of nowhere.

We can’t really see a January move happening here but a summer swoop could be on the cards.

The Malian is full of potential and he ran the midfield when we visited Brighton recently. We’ll be watching this one closely.
