Curtis Jones breakthrough

This season has been a real benchmark in the career of Curtis Jones.

A host of injuries have afforded the Scouser more minutes than he could’ve hoped for by this stage of the season.

He has played the full 90 for the Reds’ last three Premier League games.

Most recently he put in a man of the match display at home against Spurs.

The Scouser registered more passes in the opposition half than the entire visiting side.

He completely dictated the tempo, it was a performance mature beyond his years.

His performance against Spurs has earned Jones widespread acclaim.

The 19-year-old has been praised by fans and pundits alike for the way he exerted his influence on the game.

Tweeting after the game Daily Mirror writer David Maddock suggested that Curtis Jones is ready for an England call up.

The journalist believes that the Scouser would walk into Gareth Southgate’s midfield.

What RTK has to say

Curtis Jones thoroughly deserves an England call up.

His senior side debut can’t be far off now.

If the Scouser keeps up his level of performance, if he managed to retain his place in the side, then he could well earn a spot at Euro 2021.

It’s a natural next step for the youngster, hopefully Gareth Southgate can see the sense in calling him up.
