Liverpool could’ve pulled clear at the top of the table this afternoon. Spurs drew at Crystal Palace leaving the Reds with the opportunity to go two points ahead. However, Liverpool drew against Fulham in a thoroughly woeful performance. Here are three things we learned as Liverpool drew at Fulham:
Alisson is essential
If it wasn’t for Alisson Becker then we would’ve been looking at a rugby score in the first half.
The Brazilian was exceptional, keeping the hosts at bay time and again.
Although Caoimhin Kelleher did a great job as his deputy, we simply cannot afford to lose the goalkeeper for any extended period of time.
If it wasn’t for the Holy Goalie it could’ve been a very different result.
Jürgen Klopp is brave as ever
At halftime we saw a brave decision from Jürgen Klopp.
The boss brought on Takumi Minamino for Joel Matip, opting to play with two centre midfielders at centre back.
There was the option of Nat Phillips but the boss decided to go for a more gung ho approach.
It was a brave move and it paid off to an extent, when Taki managed to get on the ball in the final third he was often nifty in possession.
Curtis Jones is becoming undroppable
For the most part the midfield was disappointing.
Gini Wijnaldum wasn’t adventurous in possession and too many balls were going square.
Curtis Jones however, particularly in the second half, was often driving at the opposition defence, trying to make things happen.
The Scouser is becoming an integral part of the midfield and deserves to keep his place for the visit from Spurs on Wednesday night.
