Liverpool are in a pretty strong position in the league right now. The Reds are joint top of the table on points and are heading into December with their confidence high. Despite the side’s impressive points tally, there are concerns over squad size and fitness. According to The Transfer Window Podcast, Jürgen Klopp wants Liverpool to make two January signings.
Squad issues
At the moment the squad is plagued by injuries.
The Reds have lost well over a dozen stars to the illness and the treatment table this term.
At one point four of the back five were unavailable for selection.
Virgil van Dijk won’t play again this term whilst Joe Gomez would be lucky to.
Many believe that Liverpool have a centre back in their January transfer plans as Joel Matip is currently the last man standing.
Liverpool January transfer plans
According to reports not everybody is on the same page in regards to the Liverpool January transfer plans.
The boss and the sporting director are allegedly at odds. The Transfer Window Podcast claimed:
“We did report on the podcast three weeks ago that there was a bit of friction between Klopp and the transfer committee/board at the club with regards to recruiting in January.
“That, [in] our understanding, remains, and that Klopp is still intent, or certainly, wants to recruit a centre-back in January, and possibly one more player as well.”

The question is: which is the other position?
Signing a centre back makes a lot of sense, perhaps another forward is needed.
At the minute Divock Origi isn’t stepping up to the plate when afforded an opportunity, leaving Diogo Jota covering the front three by himself.
Given the intense fight for domestic and continental glory, we could probably do with greater depth up top.
