Liverpool had a successful summer transfer window but they were somewhat curtailed by the impact of the global health crisis. The club had to be more frugal than we expected in light of the financial uncertainty facing the sport. Next summer could be a bigger window. Kevin Phillips has tipped Liverpool to sign Kylian Mbappe thanks to the pulling power of Jürgen Klopp.

Liverpool and Kylian Mbappe

Liverpool have been linked with Kylian Mbappe since the dawn of time.

The Frenchman is one of the most talented and most promising young footballers in the game.

In recent years he has established himself as the heir apparent to the Ballon d’Or which has for so long been the exclusive property of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sport in Spain recently claimed that Liverpool are ‘willing to fight’ for Kylian Mbappe, citing a price tag of £160m.

Liverpool tipped to bag Mbappe

Speaking to Football Insider, ex-striker Kevin Phillips has tipped Liverpool to sign Kylian Mbappe.

The former journeyman forward believes that the gaffer is enough to entice the forward:

“I think Klopp can persuade Mbappe him to come, It is all well and good playing for PSG but he is playing against nobody.

“If one of Liverpool’s front three were to move on – what a player Mbappe would be for Liverpool.

“I could not see Salah or Mane leaving but Firmino might be the one that could make way. You make room for Mbappe in any side.

Klopp has enough pulling power to convince any player to come to Liverpool.”

What RTK has to say

If there was ever a transfer window when Liverpool could sign the Frenchman, it is this summer.

Should the Reds retain the league title then they could well have enough financial backing to make the move.

However, it would all be dependent on moving on one of the front three.

Whilst this may be painful at first, trading Kylian Mbappe in for a forward approaching his 30s just makes sense.
