Liverpool have had a torrid time with injuries this term. The Reds have had their squad decimated by a hectic schedule and plain bad luck. We’ve had to call upon the backup brigade a lot more frequently than expected. They haven’t let us down. Jürgen Klopp has heaped praise on the Liverpool youngsters.

Liverpool injury blows
Have you ever seen anything like it?
The Reds have seen their squad ravaged by illness and injury this term.
Over a dozen players have been ruled out at one time or another.
Virgil van Dijk won’t play again this season after rupturing his ACL.
Joe Gomez would be lucky to turn out again this term after picking up a knee problem of his own.
Meanwhile Thiago hasn’t featured since the Merseyside Derby and Alisson is currently in his second spell out.
Jürgen Klopp praises Liverpool youngsters
As a result of the injury crisis Jürgen Klopp has turned to the Liverpool youngsters for help.
Academy graduates have been stepping up all season, Curtis Jones has become a regular starter.
In a pre-match press conference, Jürgen Klopp heaped praise on the Liverpool youngsters:
“We had some problems injury-wise and that’s clear – we lost top, top class players to injuries.
“Then of course when one door closes another one opens up but you still need the right players to use the chance and all of the boys did it.
“Without these [youngsters], we would have been lost, to be honest. Thank God it turned out the way it did.
“The big part is that they were ready for it and they were really well-prepared, that’s why we’ve been able to use them in the way we have used them.”
What RTK has to say
