"This club": Reported Liverpool target Sebastian Walukiewicz given advice

Liverpool are in dire need of a centre back. The Reds have been reduced to just one senior centre half for the most of the rest of the season. The boss has cobbled together a back four made up of teenagers and midfielders in recent weeks. As a result Liverpool have been linked with defenders like Sebastian Walukiewicz – the Poland international has been advised who to sign for.

Liverpool linked with Sebastian Walukiewicz

The Reds being so short on numbers at the back has led to a glut of transfer rumours.

One of the latest has seen Liverpool linked with Sebastian Walukiewicz.

Corriere Dello Sport has said that a number of teams, including the Reds, are weighing up a move for the 20-year-old Cagliari star.

The outlet has stated that the youngster has recently signed a new contract with the Serie A side which has seen his release clause raised to around £54m.

Walukiewicz advised against Liverpool move

Polish football analyst Mateusz Borek has advised Liverpool target Sebatian Walukiewicz against an Anfield switch.

The pundit told Misja Futbol Dogrywka (via Zestadionu) that there are better options for him at this stage of his career:

“Walukiewicz went to the defenders factory, to Cagliari. There he learned to defend, he learned different systems.

“There are several directions. England awakens the imaginations of fans. Big clubs such as Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United. I am not saying that Walukiewicz is ready to play at this level.

“He found himself under the magnifying glass of Borussia Dortmund.

“If I could advise, I would point to this club, due to the fact that probably no club in Europe relies so boldly on young players.”

What RTK has to say

Liverpool signing Sebastian Walukiewicz was never on the cards really.

His £54m release clause would’ve proved a massive stumbling block.

Whilst he’s being against an Anfield switch the reasoning is sound: he’s simply not ready.

At 20-years-old he needs to be playing regularly, when we’re at full strength he won’t be, he’ll be consigned to the bench.

Maybe Liverpool will move for Walukiewicz way down the line.
