"Legend": Liverpool fans celebrate Leipzig knocking Man United out of UCL

Liverpool are through to the knockout phases of the Champions League once again. The Reds cruised through after trouncing their group emphatically. Top spot is secured with a game to go. Not every team has been as lucky. Kopites have been celebrating on Twitter as former a former Liverpool player helped Leipzig knock Man United out of the Champions League.

Liverpool safe

Liverpool qualified for the knockout phases as group winners with a game to spare.

The Reds were in fine fettle for the key games of the group stage.

Jürgen Klopp’s men battered Atalanta 5-0 in their own back yard.

Last week we saw them comfortably brush Ajax aside, the 1-0 scoreline flattered the visitors.

This has left the Reds with a dead rubber tie with FC Midtjylland to play out., the visitors guaranteed top and the hosts bottom.

Leipzig eliminate Man United

Last night RB Leipzig eliminated Man United from the Champions League.

The Red Devils went to Germany knowing that a point would be enough to see them through.

They just couldn’t hold their nerve though.

Two early goals from the hosts dented the visitors’ confidence, a third in the second half essentially killed the game.

Ex-Red Peter Gulacsi was in goal as Leipzig knocked Man United out of the Champions League.

The Hungarian keeper didn’t make a single appearance for the Reds but that hasn’t stopped Kopites claiming him as one of their own in light of his involvement last night.
