Liverpool injury crisis

Jürgen Klopp must be wondering when his bad luck will end.

The boss has pleaded with officials to allow more subs in the Premier League this season as injuries pile up.

Some injuries can be chalked up to the fixture congestion and shortened pre-season, whilst others have been just unlucky.

For instance Virgil van Dijk has been ruled out for the season due to a freak Jordan Pickford accident.

Whilst Joe Gomez’s campaign could be over after he pulled up with a knee problem in England training.

The string of injuries has left Joel Matip as the last defender standing for Jürgen Klopp, many believe he needs to bring in another center back in January to help the situation.

Liverpool target Dayot Upamecano update

Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on reported Liverpool target Dayot Upamecano.

The French defender has been persistently linked with the Reds, SportBILD recently suggesting that Jürgen Klopp could trigger his £40m release clause.

The transfer expert told his Here We Go podcast that a move in the next window is unlikely but teams are in talks already:

“I don’t think Upamecano will be sold in January.

“At the moment he is at the perfect club. But maybe next summer he can be one of the hottest properties.

“Some clubs are already speaking with RB Leipzig.”

What RTK has to say

Liverpool signing Dayot Upamecano is the dream scenario.

If there are teams already talking to RB Leipzig about securing the young centre back then we can assume that Michael Edwards is one of the parties involved.

He would slot in perfectly at the back – he has the pace to play in the high line and the passing range to launch counter attacks.

Fingers crossed we pull this one off – January would be better but we’re willing to wait for such a diamond.
