Liverpool are lucky to have Jürgen Klopp. He’s the best manager in world football. ESPN even told us so this week. However, the man himself isn’t as convinced. Jürgen Klopp believes Hansi Flick was more deserving of the number one spot in the ESPN 100 list.

Klopp names ESPN best manager

For the second year in a row, ESPN has named Jürgen Klopp as the best manager in the world.

The German took the top spot in the ESPN 100 after guiding Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years. The outlet wrote of the German:

“Having won the Champions League and then the Premier League, Klopp’s place is assured in the pantheon of Liverpool greats.

“They ran up a remarkable record 99-point tally in the Premier League last term and Klopp would end up being crowned Manager of the Season.”

Klopp believes Hansi Flick deserved it

As humble as ever, the boss was unconvinced of the award.

Jürgen Klopp believes Hansi Flick was more deserving of the gong.

The gaffer told a pre-match press conference:

“I deserve it more than Hansi Flick? No.

“What I can say I was not involved in the vote! I won the FIFA award last year pretty sure because of the Champions League.

“I don’t believe in these individual awards for coaches really.”

What RTK has to say

Jürgen Klopp saying Hansi Flick deserved the award sums the boss up perfectly.

There is no ego with the boss, he is all about the team, not individual glory.

Even though Klopp believes Flick should’ve been named as the world’s best, we aren’t as convinced.

The Bayern boss did an excellent job but the Bundesliga isn’t as competitive as the Premier League and the Reds absolutely waltzed to the title last season.
