Liverpool are in dire need of a defender. The Reds are short of numbers at the back. As a result Jürgen Klopp will be looking for reinforcements in the near future. The club have been linked with all and sundry in recent weeks and months. Liverpool are reportedly interested in Sebastian Walukiewicz, here are three reasons why the move would make sense:
Off the beaten track
Michael Edwards has earned a reputation for making the less obvious signing.
More often than not we’ll be linked with a player for months and then the Reds will go and sign somebody completely out of the blue.
This summer we saw the Reds rumoured to be in for Ismaila Sarr, then out of nowhere the club signed Diogo Jota.
Liverpool signing Sebastian Walukiewicz would come as something of a surprise which would be paradoxically unsurprising given our recent transfer history.
Young enough to grow
Liverpool interest in Sebastian Walukiewicz makes sense because he is just 20-years-old.
The Reds don’t need a starter right now, they need cover.
Jürgen Klopp doesn’t need a selection headache when Virgil van Dijk is back in contention.
Instead he needs someone to provide an option in the meantime.
At 20-years-old the Polish defender could develop in cup games and during sporadic appearances.
The 20-year-old has been on the radar for some time.
Although it was Cagliari who signed him, the youngster was making waves in 2018.
Arsenal and Barcelona were reportedly interested in the defender before he joined the Serie A side.
Whilst he didn’t get that huge move early on it speaks volumes that there was such interest in his services before the move.
He could well live up to the potential clubs thought he had a year or so ago – Corriere Dello Sport believe he would ‘delight the Premier League’.
