The Trent story

22-year-old right back Trent Alexander-Arnold is quite the fairytale.

The Scouser rose through the ranks at the academy as a centre midfielder before switching to right back.

Eventually the youngster was given a chance in the first team when Nathaniel Clyne was ruled out of a game at Manchester United.

Since then he hasn’t looked back. Trent has become immovable from the right back role.

His game has come on leaps and bounds in the years since his debut, the sky really is the limit for him.

ESPN on Trent Alexander-Arnold

Last year ESPN ranked Trent Alexander-Arnold as the best right back in the world.

This year they’ve done exactly the same.

The Scouser has beaten competition from the likes of Benjamin Pavard and Achraf Hakimi to retain top spot.

The outlet waxed lyrical about the youngster, writing:

“The young defender, who was originally a midfielder in the Liverpool academy, continues to define, and redefine, what full-back play can be in the modern game.

“His set pieces are a constant threat, and his crosses cause havoc in the penalty area.

“The England international remains on the way up, but a muscle injury has curtailed his progress this season.

“That said, the future looks bright for a player who has won 77 of 101 Premier League appearances for his boyhood club.”

What RTK has to say

ESPN have got it spot on with Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Scouser thoroughly deserves top spot in the rankings.

Who else influences a game like him from right back?

Not only does he provide exceptional assists but he is also vital to our build up play.

The Scouser’s range of passing has been all the difference for us on many occasions.

We can’t wait to see him back in action.
