Liverpool boast some of the world’s best players. The Reds have assembled a team for the ages in recent seasons. Michael Edwards is largely responsible, he’s been bringing in diamonds in the rough at bargain prices. One of our best bargain signings has come in for some high praise. Andy Robertson has been ranked as the best left back in the world by ESPN.

Liverpool and Robertson
When Liverpool signed Andy Robertson some fans weren’t too inspired.
Kopites had been calling out for a big name to replace the unreliable Alberto Moreno.
Andy Robbo had just been relegated with Hull City, his £8m arrival didn’t really tun heads.
He established himself as the first choice left back and never looked back.
In the years since he has become the very best in the world at his job and he cost us an absolute pittance.
The moment many Kopites will pinpoint as the moment they knew he was the real deal is that press against Man City.
Andy Robertson tops ESPN rankings
It’s that time of year again where ESPN rank the best 10 players in the world in each position, as well as the best managers.
The Reds did well last year and they’ve been dominating the list again this time out.
ESPN has ranked Andy Robertson as the best left back in the world, saying of the Scot:
“In three years at Anfield, he’s gone from Premier League prospect to, quite simply, the best left-back in the world.
“It almost seems wrong to call him “left-back” given how prolific he is in attack, racking up 23 assists in the past two Premier League seasons from a defensive position.
“In terms of creating chances, taking set pieces and working tirelessly off the ball, he is a cut above.
“The £10m that Liverpool spent on Robertson in 2017 from Hull City increasingly looks like one of the best bits of transfer business ever.”
What RTK has to say
Not that we needed telling. Also, we’re pretty sure it was £8m.
Andy Robertson will be the best left back in the world for a few years yet.
The Scotsman is showing no signs of slowing down, in fact he keeps getting better.
At just 26-years-old he has more than a few years left in the tank.
It is a certainty that he’ll go down as the club’s best ever left back.
