"Definitely": Divock Origi backed to sign for Leeds United

The Liverpool attacking line is one of the most feared in world football. Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah have been lethal for Liverpool and displacing them has been an impossible task. As a result many players find themselves to be perpetual benchwarmers, one such player has been tipped for a move. Kevin Phillips has backed Divock Origi to join Leeds United.

Limited chances

Since joining Liverpool in 2014 Divock Origi has failed to become a regular starter.

The Belgian has been loaned back to Lille and out to Wolfsburg and has since spent most of his time on the bench.

Origi has been frustrating when given chances.

The striker has scored some of the most important goals in the club’s recent history and he has also put in some of the most anonymous performances we’ve seen.

This season Origi has managed just a minute in the Premier League and two hours in the Premier League.

His two opportunities in Europe were thoroughly wasted.

Divock Origi and Leeds United

Given his limited opportunities at Anfield, Origi has been tipped for a move.

The striker will be eager to get a spot in the Belgium squad for the Euros in the summer and he’ll need regular game time to earn his place.

Speaking to Football Insider, Kevin Phillips backed Divock Origi to join Leeds United, saying:

“I would imagine Origi will leave in January but if not it will definitely be the summer.

“But it has been a tough year for him so far…He has not played enough football.

“A fresh challenge for him would be best and I am sure there will be a queue of clubs looking to sign him if he is made available.

“We have seen what he can do. He just needs to play football.

“I would not be surprised if he moves on in January and Leeds is definitely a potential destination.”

What RTK has to say

Divock Origi joining Leeds United wouldn’t be a disaster by any means.

He deserves a move for all the important goals he’s scored for us in the past couple of years.

We can also rely on Michael Edwards to squeeze any potential suitor for every last penny and he could even insert a buyback clause.

Hopefully Big Div can get the move he needs in the near future.
