Liverpool have suffered an injury crisis like none other in recent weeks. The Reds have seen scores of players ruled out with illness and niggles yet we are still joint top of the Premier League on points. Many believe the club will move for a defender in the coming window. Rhys Williams could save Liverpool millions in January as long as he maintains his strong form.
Liverpool injury crisis
The latest Liverpool injury update has the club without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
The Reds won’t see their talismanic Dutch defender again this campaign after he ruptured his ACL in the Merseyside Derby.
Joe Gomez, seemingly in solidarity, picked up a knee injury of his own just weeks later in England training.
Whilst JoGo may be able to play again this season it is definitely a long shot.

Liverpool linked with Dayot Upamecano
Simon Hughes recently claimed that Liverpool are ‘definitely’ targeting Dayot Upamecano.
The French defender is allegedly part of a four man list of potential buys.
He has been persistently linked with a move to Anfield in recent months, the whispers growing louder with every injury to the back line.
The 22-year-old reportedly has a release clause of just £40m.
Rhys Williams can save Liverpool millions
Since Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk have been sidelined we’ve seen Rhys Williams afforded more opportunities in the back four.
The 19-year-old academy graduate has been impressive for the most part.
He has been thrust into big occasions and more than held his own, he was one of the better performers when the Reds fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Atalanta this week.
Should the youngster continue to develop and impress then he could well save the club millions as they won’t feel the need to buy as early as January, instead they’ll be able to wait until the summer.
