Liverpool are always looking to the future. The Reds have been steadily assembling the team of tomorrow in recent seasons. We’ve seen the arrivals of Billy Koumetio, Harvey Elliott and Melkamu Frauendorf lay the foundations for the future. The Reds look set to continue with this policy. Reports in Spain have linked Liverpool with Alejandro Balde of Barcelona.
Liverpool look to future
It is always cheaper to make a superstar as opposed to buying a superstar.
The Reds are well aware of this and as such have focused on signing diamonds in the rough, along with plenty of bright youth prospects.
Melkamu Frauendorf arrived over the summer, the Germany youth captain has been impressing for the academy.
Harvey Elliott signed last summer and is currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers, taking the micky out of the Championship.
We’ve also seen Billy Koumetio impress fans and coaches alike with his assured pre-season performances.
Liverpool want Alejandro Balde
According to Sport in Spain, Liverpool want Alejandro Balde of Barcelona.
The 17-year-old left back has been impressing for the youth sides at the Catalan club, making four UEFA Youth League appearances this term with one assist registered.
The report claims that Liverpool have already approched the Alejandro Balde camp, with Chelsea also interested.
It is said that it would be tough to convince the teenager to make the switch as he is thought to be comfortable at the Blaugrana and they are believed to value him highly.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Alejandro Balde would be some coup if they could pull it off.
Barcelona’s youth academy is a conveyor belt of world class talent, if Balde is the next off the production line then he must be worth a punt.
However, it will be tricky to convince him to move. If the Camp Nou side are invested in his development and they afford him the same treatment they have with Ansu Fati and Pedri then he has no reason to leave.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.
