Liverpool injury crisis

Have you ever seen anything like it? Seriously?

Liverpool started the season with three centre backs after Dejan Lovren was sold and not replaced.

Cool, sure, a gamble. We’ve gambled before and it’s paid off.

This gamble hasn’t paid off.

Virgil van Dijk has been ruled out for the season with a ruptured ACL and Joe Gomez is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a serious injury.

Joel Matip is now our only fit centre back and he is made of glass himself, we can’t expect him to get through the festive period unscathed.

We need to sign a centre back in January.

Liverpool target Ozan Kabak update

Liverpool have been persistently linked with Ozan Kabak in recent weeks and months.

The 20-year-old Schalke defender has been impressing in the German Bundesliga and has also attracted the interest of AC Milan.

According to SportBILD, Liverpool target Ozan Kabak has been put ‘in the shop window’ by Schalke.

The publication claims that the Bundesliga side are looking to cash in on the defender as they face a financial crisis at the club.

It is said a deal can be done for around £22.5m.

What RTK has to say

Get him in. Get anybody in. Just get somebody in.

Liverpool bringing in Ozan Kabak would be a plaster on a gaping wound at the minute.

Depending on the severity of the Joe Gomez injury the Reds may have to sign two defenders in the January transfer window.

Ozan Kabak can be a cheap half of a new pairing, perhaps Dayot Upamecano can be the other half.
