"Impressive": Twitter reacts as Liverpool linked with Milan Skriniar

This January proves to be a fascinating one for Kopites. Well, probably December instead. The Reds have to sign a defender and many believe they’ll have a player lined up to join as soon as the window opens. Just who will be the man through the door is anybody’s guess. Liverpool defensive crisis

Liverpool are down to just one (regularly) fit centre back in the senior side.

The Reds decided to start the season with just three recognised centre backs, plus a defensive midfielder who could fill in when needed.

This decision backfired when Virgil van Dijk was ruled out for the season. Joel Matip also picked up an injury which has kept him sidelined. Meanwhile, makeshift replacement Fabinho has been ruled out with a hamstring problem.

Whilst Matip has returned to fitness we can’t rely on him to remain fit. A new centre back is a necessity.

Liverpool and Skriniar

ESPN has linked Liverpool with a move for Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan.

The Slovakian defender was the subject of summer interest from Spurs as Jose Mourinho looked to solidify his defence.

Spurs were unwilling to stump up the £54m Inter were asking for and the 25-year-old subsequently remained at the San Siro.

ESPN believes that Liverpool could move for Milan Skriniar in January as a decisive fix to the problems in the back line.

One Tweeter suggested he could benefit from the switch to a back four.

Another claimed he isn’t needed.

He is quite an impressive prospect.

No better than Rhys Williams according to one user.

Many fans aren’t convinced.

Others are tired of the scatter gun links.
