'Best ever'; Cafu tips Trent Alexander-Arnold to be all-time great

World Cup-winning captain Cafu has tipped Trent Alexander-Arnold to become an all-time great. The Brazil legend says he’s ‘on the right path’.

Cafu believes Trent Alexander-Arnold can become one of the all-time great right-backs. The two-time World Cup winner believes the Scouser is well on his way.

“What does [Alexander-Arnold] have to do to be one of the best? I think he has to keep everything good that he has,” Cafu told Qatar 2022. “Like his physical condition and his pass, and perfect his crossing a bit more.

“And the World champion title would give him a seat among the best. I had the chance to win the World Cup twice and play in three finals in a row but he’s young and on the right path.

“In the future, he’ll be one of the best right-backs ever – in England and in the world.”

What RTK has to say

Here at RTK, we firmly believe Alexander-Arnold can become one of the all-time greats. He’s already setting records and redefining what a right-back can do in the Premier League.

And at just 22, he’s played pivotal roles in both Champions League and Premier League triumphs. Really, you can’t ask for much more.

But he’s still got work to do. Take Cafu, for instance. Cafu captained Brazil to a World Cup win, won two Copa Americas, two Serie A title, just about everything there is to win domestically in Brazil, and lifted the Champions League with Milan.

So Alexander-Arnold has a lot to compete with. Obviously, the strength of the overall England team will dictate his chances internationally but at club level, he’s ‘on the right path’, as Cafu said.

Give it another five or six years and we’ll see just how good prime Alexander-Arnold is. But he’s certainly shaping up to be as talented as we’ve ever seen in the position.
