Who is Nicolo Barella?

23-year-old attacking midfielder Nicolo Barella plies his trade at the San Siro, playing for Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.

The youngster came through the ranks at Sardinian side Cagliari, making his debut aged 18-years-old.

Barella joined Inter on loan last summer with the Milanese team obligated to buy the midfielder at the end of the loan period.

He has made 46 appearances in all competitions for Inter scoring four goals.

The Reds are said to be joined in tracking the player by Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Man United and Arsenal.

The outlet claims that the clubs have been impressed by the 23-year-old’s strong start to the season.

Barella has bagged three assists in six appearances in Serie A, earning a WhoScored rating of 6.93.

What RTK has to say

Whilst I don’t think there’s much truth to this rumour – it wouldn’t make sense for us to splash out on Barella given the money he’d cost and the options we already have in midfield – that won’t stop be being excited about it.

Barella is a player with real panache and flair, we see this in Inter’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid, his backheeled-volley-flick through to Lautaro Martinez for his side’s first goal was utterly sumptuous.

At the minute we’re going to rule this one out as nothing more than a rumour though we’ll keep our ears to the ground for anything more concrete.
