Liverpool have been making it work in recent weeks and months. That’s all they could do. Jürgen Klopp has had to chop and change and juggle his squad in order to field a team capable of reclaiming top spot. The boss has just about managed it so far despite all of the fitness issues he’s faced. James Pearce has delivered a Fabinho injury update and it’s the best news we could’ve hoped for.

Fabinho this season

Fabinho has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world since arriving at Anfield.

This season he has had to adapt for the good of the team, dropping into centre back in the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip.

The Brazilian performed well in the role, putting in a man of the match performance against Chelsea and another one against Ajax.

Fabby also performed well at the back against Sheffield United and was unlucky to have a penalty awarded against him.

It was in the Champions League tie with FC Midtjylland that we lost the ex-Monaco man to a hamstring problem.

Fabinho injury update

We haven’t had any official, concrete timescale put on the midfielder’s return as of yet.

James Pearce, however, has delivered a Fabinho injury update that is sure to calm the nerves of Kopites. The journalist told the Red Agenda Podcast:

“I think he’ll be back straight after the international break. That’s the hope. Brazil were informed that he wouldn’t be fit enough to go away on international duty.

“Klopp seemed pretty hopeful last week that he’d be able to use the international break to regain full fitness, so not as bad as initially feared.”

What RTK has to say

Thank goodness. This is the best news we could’ve hoped for given the way he went down.

At first there were concerns that we could be without the long limbed interceptor for some months but those fears have been assuaged.

Although it’s a blow not to have him for the clash with Manchester City we can take heart in the fact that he’ll be back for the next game.
