Liverpool will sign a defender in January, we can be in doubt about that. The Reds have to bring a defender in in order to bolster a dilapidating back line. It is still very much up in the air just who will come in, one name has got fans exciting. Liverpool fans have been buzzing about links to David Alaba.

David Alaba profile
28-years-old, David Alaba has been a mainstay of the Bayern Munich defence for nearly a decade.
The Austrian utility man made his debut for Munich in 2010 having come through the youth ranks at the Allianz.
Since then he has become a world beating left back and has been deployed as a centre midfielder, defensive midfielder and most recently as a centre back.
In 394 appearances in all competitions the Austrian has lifted the Champions League on two occasions as well as nine Bundesliga titles and an embarrassment of domestic cups.
Liverpool and David Alaba
There has been suggestions that Liverpool could move for David Alaba in the coming months.
Football Insider suggested it, as have we. The defender’s contract expires in the summer meaning he is free to negotiate a pre-contract in January.
Given his quality and experience he is being linked with a host of clubs across Europe.
He may not fit the Liverpool mould in terms of his age but Alaba’s lack of a transfer fee would help counter this, his versatility would also be incredibly enticing for Jürgen Klopp.
Liverpool fans on David Alaba
One supporter suggested we should bring in both him and Dayot Upamecano.
Some fans will be buzzing if we can get him.
He would be the ideal James Milner replacement.
He’d be a great signing.
Bringing him in makes perfect sense.
