Liverpool were linked with all and sundry over the summer. The world knew that Jürgen Klopp needed another forward, he needed depth and cover. The Reds went on to sign Diogo Jota to cover each of the front three. Did Liverpool make a mistake not signing Marcus Thuram?
Liverpool linked with Marcus Thuram
Back in April, Express in Germany reported that Liverpool were tracking Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Bundesliga winger is the son of French World Cup winner Lilian Thuram.
According to Express, the Reds would have had to have paid £44m for the 23-year-old winger.

At just 23-years-old, Thuram has plenty of time to grow as a player.
He impressed in the Bundesliga last season, netting 10 goals and bagging eight assists in 31 appearances.
He has started this campaign strongly in Europe and Tuesday night put in a strong performance against Real Madrid.
Thuram bagged a brace as the German side held the Spanish champions to a 2-2 draw.
Monchengladbach will be kicking themselves for not securing all three points having conceded twice in the final five minutes to surrender their two goal lead.
Did Reds make a mistake?
Liverpool, as we well know, went on to sign Diogo Jota instead – for near enough the same figure quoted for Marcus Thuram.
The Portuguese star has made a blistering start to life at Anfield, netting winners against Sheffield United and Midtjylland as well as a goal against Arsenal.
If you ask us the Reds made the right call in bringing in a player with solid Premier League experience. However, we can’t discount a move for Thuram in the future as the Reds could do with more than just Jota to back up the wingers.
For now though, we can rest easy in that Michael Edwards got it right opting for Diogo.
