Liverpool put in yet another thoroughly professional performance at the weekend to eek out a 1-0 win over Sheffield United at Anfield. The Reds had to come from a goal down to beat the Blades but the result never looked in doubt. Analysing the game, Garth Crooks has drooled over Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool 2-1 Sheffield United
Liverpool’s weekend performance at Anfield was professional if not exciting.
The Reds went down early on after the visitors were given a bizarre penalty after Fabinho clearly won the ball on the edge of the box.
Parity was restored before halftime when Roberto Firmino turned in a rebound just a yard from the net after Sadio Mane’s header was parried into the Brazilian’s path.
The winner came when Diogo Jota headed home Sadio’s sumptuous cross with 25 minutes remaining.

Garth Crooks on Trent Alexander-Arnold
The Scouser in our team put in another sterling performance at the weekend.
The right back was denied a world class assist when Mo Salah was correctly adjudged to be marginally offside.
Garth Crooks was drooling over Trent Alexander-Arnold after selecting him in the BBC Team of the Week:
“The youngster was at it again on Saturday against Sheffield United. Spraying balls around the pitch with that wonderful right foot of his like he was handing out leaflets at a party conference.
“The pass for Mohamed Salah to score – only to see VAR rule the goal for offside – was so effortless and absolutely gorgeous. It didn’t just split the Sheffield United defence in two, it literally dissected it.”
What RTK has to say
Trent’s brilliance can sometimes go under the radar.
He is so often outstanding that he has to do something extraordinary to get noticed at times.
The Reds right back may not have the assists that Robbo has this season but he’s still putting in strong performances.
It is a joy to watch him, as Garth Crooks said, Alexander-Arnold makes it all look effortless.
