Adrian – 8

With Alisson out injured the Spaniard continues to frustrate – smart saves and distribution were mixed in with heart in the mouth moments of uncertainty. A clean sheet deserves an 8.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7

The Scouser in our team was typically smart with the ball, raking passes across the pitch to get us out of sticky situations.

Joe Gomez – 8

The Englishman was solid as can be expected in Virgil’s absence.

Fabinho – 10

Fabby needs to start every game at the back. He is an utterly immense defender.

Andy Robertson – 9

Andy Robbo, published author, has started the season magnificently and he’s carried that on tonight.

Curtis Jones – 6

The Scouser was a surprise selection and he just didn’t get on the ball enough.

James Milner – 6.5

The experienced pro just didn’t do enough in the midfield, sure he charged about but going forward he was lacklustre.

Gini Wijnaldum – 6.5

See above.

Mo Salah – 7

Somebody tell this man he has a right foot. I beg you.

Sadio Mane – 8.5

Sadio never fails to impress. He is always terrifying defences with his pace and dribbling ability.

Bobby Firmino – 5

Bobby Firmino needs a spell out of the side, his passes weren’t accurate or weighted properly, he didn’t threaten. It’s time for some time out to wake him up.

Jordan Henderson – 8

The skipper was an incredibly calming presence when he came on at half time, he is a special player.

Takumi Minamino – 8

Taki was electric, creative, he provided a spark when he got on the ball. He deserves a start.

Diogo Jota – 8.5

The Portuguese star was tenacious out of possession and very nearly caught the Ajax keeper out. He got an extra point for that ball to Gini in the 90th minute.

Little Big Jed Shaqiri – 7

Smart on the ball, we’re made up that he stuck around this summer.
