Liverpool have had some characters in the side over the years, players that have amazed and frustrated, players that have given us a laugh from time to time. One Croatian in particular was just about all of these things at one time or another. Liverpool fans have been amazed reacting to a Dejan Lovren wonder goal for Zenit in the Champions League.
To Russia with Lov
Probably the millionth time I’ve used this sub heading but I’m not going to stop until I stop being smug about it.
Liverpool sold Dejan Lovren to Zenit over the summer, raking in £10.9m for the defender.
The 31-year-old had dropped to fourth choice in the pecking order at Anfield, given that he is a World Cup finalist he deserved to be playing more regularly somewhere.
He may have frustrated us at times over the years but he still put in some match winning performances and we’ll never forget his winner against Borussia Dortmund.
Lovren goal for Zenit
This week Dejan Lovren scored a wonder goal for Zenit.
The Croatian thumped one in from what must have been at least thirty yards, ricocheting in off the post and goalkeeper.
Cruelly, the goal has been deemed an own goal but we’ll be giving it to Degsy.
The goal brought his side level at 1-1 with Club Brugge, the visiting Belgian side went on to net a winner in the 93rd minute.

Some fans were relieved he finally netted one, he enraged us with these optimistic efforts over the years.
And he’s finally done it, after years of making me really really really angry https://t.co/iBMacD7cCH

To be fair, he’s been trying them for 6 years, bout time one went in!

Some didn’t give him the credit he deserved.
It was a clearance

It was some strike, though.
