Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want Swansea City defender Joe Rodon. A deal there could help Liverpool move Harry Wilson today.

The BBC says Swansea City are expecting Tottenham Hotspur to bid for Joe Rodon today. The deadline for such a move is 5 pm and the Swans supposedly want around £18m.

It may well go to the wire, then, as Spurs don’t rate Rodon as an £18m player. The negotiations there, and whether they get a deal done, could hold the key to Liverpool moving on Harry Wilson today.

Trigger

The easy link here is that Swansea reportedly want Wilson. As that BBC article says, they’re currently trying to agree a loan package for Wilson with Liverpool.

Swans boss Steve Cooper, a former Liverpool coach, worked with the Welshman at Melwood and is a self-confessed fan. But things aren’t so simple.

Per Sky Sports, Liverpool want a ‘greater financial commitment’ from Swansea to make a loan happen. That is almost certainly tied to the development of Wilson.

Liverpool don’t want to send him to a club who can give up on him or feel inclined to develop their own players instead. That is, according to the Daily Mail, why they sold Rhian Brewster instead of loaning him.

So Liverpool want more money and, if Spurs come to an agreement, Swansea might be about to come into some. It depends on Spurs, then, but they seem to hold to key to Liverpool getting Wilson off the books today.

Hopefully, this happens, as we believe this could be a very good move for Wilson and Liverpool.
