Liverpool have one of the deadliest attacking lines in world football, the trio of Mo Salah, Bobby Firmino and Sadio Mane has been striking fear in the heart of defences the world over. Such is the might of this front line, teams are digging deep to counter them – we need a plan B; Liverpool should turn to Arkadiusz Milik next summer, he’s available on a free.
Who is Milik?
26-years-old and 6 foot and 1 inch tall, Arkadiusz Milik plays up front for Napoli.
Some will remember an impossible save Alisson made from a Milik shot with moments left in a crucial Champions League tie at Anfield.
The striker netted 17 goals and bagged three assists in 35 appearances in his best Serie A season.
In the last campaign he scored 11 in 19 starts and seven sub appearances.
Throughout the summer Spurs were linked with a move for Arkadiusz Milik.
Given the injury problems of Harry Kane, Jose Mourinho was looking to find a strong enough back up striker who could step into their talismanic striker’s shoes whenever he is injured.
However, no such move materialised and now the forward is entering the final year of his contract. The move seems to have fallen apart due to Napoli’s reported £23m valuation.
Liverpool should move for Milik
We’ve advocated for the Liverpool signing of Arkadiusz Milik before.
We need a plan B striker and he would provide that with his aerial presence and physicality as well as his instinctive poaching ability.
Furthermore, he is just 26-years-old, meaning he still has a few years before he hits his prime.
Given that he will be available on a free next summer, this should be a no brainer. We wouldn’t have to spend a penny on a transfer fee and we’d be bagging a type of player we’re crying out for due to how deep teams are defending against us now.
