Liverpool have one of the most unique and talented strikers in world football leading the line. Jürgen Klopp has slowly carved out a role that only our number nine can play and for years now he has been playing that role to perfection. He’s been in a bit of a rut recently but thankfully Roberto Firmino has scored twice for Brazil this weekend, hitting form at the perfect time.
Firmino in poor form
Unfortunately, Bobby hasn’t enjoyed the best start to the season.
The Brazilian may have bagged two assists but he hasn’t past the naked eye test to say the least.
His poor form culminated in one of the worst games we’ve seen from him in a red shirt when he had a torrid time at Aston Villa.
So bad was his performance at Villa Park that there has been suggestions that he could be dropped for the Merseyside Derby after the international break.
Firmino bags Brazil brace
Liverpool star Roberto Firmino bagged a brace for Brazil this weekend.
The number nine netted twice against Bolivia, a crucial part of his side’s 5-0 thrashing of the South American side in their World Cup qualifying tie.
The striker’s second goal showcased just what it is that the smiley forward brings to a side; he dropped deep into his own half to receive the ball and fire it off to the wing before sprinting into the opposition box to get on the end of a move he started.
Netting at the right time
This brace will come as a massive confidence boost for Bobby and at just the right time.
Footballers aren’t deaf or blind, he will be aware of the criticism he’s faced, of the calls for him to be dropped.
This is the perfect way to answer his critics. Just score and keep scoring. He is a striker after all.
Fingers crossed he can continue his fine international form through to the Derby, we need to batter the Ev.
