Liverpool have had an excellent time in the transfer market this summer. The Reds have brought in Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota, weeks after recruiting Kostas Tsimikas. There were numerous reports that Liverpool would then turn their attention to Ozan Kabak. However, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that “Liverpool are convinced they are okay with this team”.

Liverpool and Ozan Kabak

Rumours have been circulating about Liverpool and Ozan Kabak all year.

Most recently, Chris Williams suggested that Liverpool would turn their attention to Kabak to fill the fourth centre back slot following the departure of Dejan Lovren to Zenit.

Williams claimed that the Reds would have to stump up £22.9m for the young centre half. As of yet no such move had materialised.

Liverpool satisfied

Fabrizio Romano recently said on his Here We Go podcast that Liverpool are satisfied without Kabak. The Liverpool ECHO have quoted the transfer expert as saying:

“In this moment, Liverpool are convinced they are okay with this team, they are not going to sign any other players, so I don’t expect Liverpool to [make] a move for Ozan Kabak. We have to say, always expect the unexpected, but, in this moment, there are no advanced talks to sign Ozan Kabak.

“He’s a player that Liverpool were scouting [for] many months, also when he was in Stuttgart before joining Schalke – they always appreciated him, as [have] other clubs in the Premier League, but, this summer, we didn’t have something real to see Ozan Kabak joining Liverpool. So, I think there are just rumours, links – but nothing advanced.

What RTK has to say

This can come as no great surprise given the amount the Reds have spent in recent weeks and how impressive Fabinho was at centre back against Chelsea.

The club will likely add another centre back in future, however, how quickly Billy Koumetio develops could change that.

Ozan Kabak would be an ideal candidate should we invest in another defender, he once said he aspires to be on the same level as Virgil van Dijk.
