Liverpool have had a whirlwind couple of days in the transfer market. Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Thiago Alcantara and, according to James Pearce, have completed the signing of Diogo Jota from Wolves. From supposedly being the ultra skint Reds to being the free spending Reds, we have had a wonderful time. According to reports, Liverpool may move for Ozan Kabak to round off their summer spree.
Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich for just £20m with £5m in bonuses.
According to James Pearce, Liverpool will soon announce the arrival of Diogo Jota from Wolves for £45m.
The spending comes as a surprise given that we were constantly told that there was no money to be spent.
In Edwards we trust.
Liverpool chasing Ozan Kabak
According to various sources, such as journalist Chris Williams, Liverpool are now pursuing a deal for Ozan Kabak.
The Turkish centre-back currently plies his trade at Schalke in the German Bundesliga, once admitting that he wants to be like Virgil van Dijk.
The defender made 26 league appearances for the German side last season, netting three goals.
He has also spent time with Stuttgart, an impressive point on his CV given the club’s reputation for spotting and nurturing the brightest youngsters in the game.
According to Williams, the Reds will have to offer around €25m (£22.9m) for the defender.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool need a fourth choice centre back given that Dejan Lovren has departed.
At the minute our fourth choice seems to be Fabinho or Billy Koumetio.
Neither of these options are ideal, bringing in a young defender with plenty of first team experience makes sense.
Fingers crossed we manage to get this one over the line.
