Liverpool have assembled one of the most fearsome squads in world football over the past couple of years. The Reds have been savvy in the transfer market, targeting problem areas in the side with surgical precision. Liverpool may need to target another signing if Alisson keeps getting injured.
Alisson Becker at Anfield
Liverpool signed Alisson from Roma in a £67m deal in 2018.
The Brazilian shot stopper became the most expensive goalkeeper in history when he joined the Reds shortly after the club was defeated in the Champions League final due to sloppy errors from Loris Karius.
Ali picked up the Premier League Golden Glove in his first season at Anfield, as well as being named the best goalkeeper in the world by FIFA.
The Brazilian was unlucky not to retain the Golden Glove in his second campaign with injury seeing him miss the first couple of months of the season.
The Mirror reported this weekend that Alisson and Thiago are injured and likely to miss this evening’s clash with Arsenal.
The Brazilian also missed the first two months of last season, forcing Adrian to be thrust into the action straight off the bat.
Transfermarkt have Ali as missing 14 games through injury last season, a pretty hefty total given how important to the side he is.
In his second spell out we saw Adrian in goal as the Reds crashed out of the Champions League and FA Cup.
Liverpool should consider signing keeper
Liverpool have been repeatedly linked with a £17m move for Ugurcan Cakir.
The Turkish goalkeeper would arrive as understudy to Alisson Becker, providing solid backup for the Brazilian.
Whilst we don’t think that Cakir himself is the answer, the Reds could do with upgrading their backup goalkeeper should Alisson keep getting injured.
Adrian was at fault in both games as the Reds were dumped out of Europe and the cup last season.
If Ali is going to keep missing games we need to be more assured of his backups. Tonight could prove a decisive moment in Adrian’s Liverpool career should he step in for Ali.
