Liverpool have been busy bees in the past few weeks. The Reds have landed a couple of stellar signings, igniting a new wave of optimism in the Reds’ fan base. One of the signings has already been breaking records, the other made his debut in the cup. Jordan Henderson has admitted that the players got excited about the new Liverpool signings.
Early in the window Liverpool brought in Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiakos.
The Greek defender arrived days after the Reds had a bid rejected for Jamal Lewis, he was signed to cover Andy Robertson at left back.
Weeks later, Liverpool announced the signing of Thiago Alcantara after months of rumours swirling around the player.
Whilst interest in Thiago was well documented, the day after the Reds bagged a player they hadn’t been linked with at all, signing Diogo Jota from Wolves to everybody’s surprise.
Henderson on Liverpool signings
Jordan Henderson has admitted he was excited by the Liverpool signings.
The skipper was overjoyed by the Reds’ recruitment, he told the Liverpool’s official site:
“Being fortunate enough to be a professional footballer doesn’t mean your reaction to certain things in the game isn’t the same as that of a supporter. It’s often maybe overlooked that before any of us fell in love with playing, we all were fans. That never leaves you. I was a supporter before I was a player and I’ll still be a supporter when I finish.
“So, when Liverpool announce a new signing, we in the dressing room aren’t that much different. We get excited – we get caught up in the anticipation – we look forward to seeing them and hearing them for the first time. It does bring fresh energy and a lift.
“All three are going to be massively important to us and we are buzzing as a team to welcome them in. We need them and we are delighted they chose to come to us.”
What RTK has to say
The Reds summer business has impressed fans and pundits alike, it’s good to know that the players are equally as buzzing.
We would expect nothing less, who wouldn’t be excited about playing with Thiago Alcantara?
As long as the first team squad manages to maintain this level of togetherness we will continue to dominate, the side’s strong mentality has been pivotal to our success in recent seasons.
