Report: Liverpool signing Jeremy Doku this window 'cannot be ruled out'

Liverpool have been busy in the past week. They spent Friday and Saturday bringing top talents into the club and Sunday reminding Chelsea just how far off the pace they are. Jürgen Klopp’s side have had a dominant few days to say the least. The Reds may not be done just yet though, according to reports in Belgium, Liverpool may still bring Jeremy Doku to the club before the window closes.

Who is Jeremy Doku?

18-year-old Jeremy Doku plays as a winger for Belgian side Anderlecht.

The teenager has netted two goals and bagged three assists in six league appearances this season.

Kopites will remember him from when, as Goal reported in the summer, the Reds tried to sign him before he moved to Anderlecht.

Jürgen Klopp and Steven Gerrard spoke to him at Melwood in an effort to bring him to Merseyside a couple of years ago with the pair seeing him as a successor to Sadio Mane.

Liverpool still after Doku

Het Belang van Limburg in Belgium has claimed that Liverpool may still try and sign Jeremy Doku during this transfer window.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Het Nieuwsblad recently claimed that the Reds had revived their interest in the winger.

However, HBVL believes that they haven’t given up quite yet, despite the Belgian side demanding €30m (£27.5m).

The outlet has claimed that Anderlecht are open to negotiating if the Reds make a ‘crazy offer’ as they could do with dealing with debts which currently amount to around €95m.

The report states that Liverpool signing Jeremy Doku during this window ‘cannot be ruled out’.

What RTK has to say

If Liverpool were to sign Jeremy Doku before the window closes then we can assume he’d be loaned straight back to Anderlecht.

He is unlikely to get much game time at Anfield at the minute given the strength of the attacking options already at the club, it would benefit him to stay where he is getting first team football.

We can’t pretend that the story makes no sense, the Reds have been in for him before.

However, given recent spending, a deal this window is unlikely. We could return for him future though.
