Liverpool were down in the dumps when Jürgen Klopp arrived in 2015. The Reds had recently come close to a first league title in decades and having fallen just short were struggling to challenge again. The German giant came in and nothing was the same. This weekend Jürgen Klopp reached 400 points quicker than any other Liverpool manager.
Convincing weekend win
This weekend Liverpool took on Chelsea in a clash billed to be potentially significant to the title race.
However, Frank Lampard’s Blues were given a firm reminder of just how far behind his side are.
The Reds strolled to victory in West London. Andreas Christensen was sent off just before halftime and the game was dead thereafter.
Sadio Mane put the hosts to the sword with two goals in a game which the Reds won without ever getting out of second gear.
Jürgen Klopp reaches 400 points
The weekend win saw Jürgen Klopp reach 400 points in league football.
The German made it to the incredible tally quicker than any Liverpool manager in history, hitting the total in 184 games.
Kenny Dalglish is in second place with 197 games, the great Bill Shankly is fifth with 229 games.
Club statistician Ged Rea pointed out the stat, he’s well worth a follow. Of course, this is all based on three points for a win.
What RTK has to say
It can come as no surprise that Jürgen Klopp has hit 400 points in record time.
The Reds have been in sensational form in the past couple of seasons. They dropped just 32 points across the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns.
There will surely be more records broken by the German whilst he is at Anfield. Fingers crossed he breaks the record for being the first to sign a lifetime contract.
