This summer there has been just one story dominating the Scouse gossip columns: Liverpool and Thiago Alcantara. The Reds haven’t done much in the window at all, they’ve sold one player and brought another one, they’ve also brought in some talented youngsters. However, fans are still waiting to find out whether we’ll land our supposedly top target. Christian Falk is convinced that Liverpool will sign Thiago.
Liverpool and Thiago
Having won it all at Bayern Munich, Alcantara has purportedly told the club that he doesn’t want to extend his contract as he enters the final year of his deal.
Since this news came to light there have been nonstop links between Liverpool and Thiago.
RMC Sport went as far as to claim that the Spaniard has told his teammates he’s leaving having bought a house and Merseyside and having agreed a four-year-deal with the Reds.
In a recent interview with Empire of the Kop, Bayern Munich expert Christian Falk was emphatic in his assessment of the Reds’ chances of landing the playmaker, saying:
“I think Thiago overestimated his market value in the times of Corona. Bayern demand €30m. So far, no club is ready to pay that amount. But on the specific question: yes, I think he will go to Liverpool.”
What RTK has to say
Christian Falk has been covering the Liverpool and Thiago saga since the beginning, he is well connected to the player and the club.
He seems as convinced as anybody that the Reds will get this deal over the line in the end.
It does seem as though if the deal does go through it will be a last minute move, as Uli Hoeness recently pointed out he expects Jürgen Klopp’s side to put a bid in in the final week of the window in order to force the German side’s position.
