Liverpool fans have gotten used to transfer disappointments in recent years. Not in a dramatic way, we don’t moan about it. It’s our fault if anything. We get too excited and worked up when we get linked with superstar names, knowing that Michael Edwards is far craftier than that. However, this season could be different – we may just bag that superstar name. Apparently Bayern are expecting an offer from Liverpool for Thiago.

Liverpool and Thiago background

All summer we’ve been hearing about Liverpool and Thiago, Thiago and Liverpool.

It’s almost as if when the Timo Werner deal fell through the press thought it’d be great to give us something else to get worked up about.

RMC Sport recently claimed that the Reds have a four-year-deal with the playmaker in place, saying that he’s already told his teammates he’s heading to Anfield.

Whereas David Ornstein has claimed that Liverpool won’t go near Bayern’s £45m asking price.

Liverpool Thiago bid ‘expected’

Christian Falk has reported a telling quote from Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the Bayern CEO saying:

“We expect an offer [for Thiago] these days.”

This is certainly a telling moment given that the whole world is aware that Liverpool are hot favourites for Thiago and have apparently already been in touch with Bayern but have yet to strike a deal.

Finally going to happen?

Surely both clubs want this saga resolved as soon as possible.

The Reds will want to know their squad for the coming year and Bayern will want to be able to make plans for life without Thiago if that’s what they’re facing up to.

Given that the Munich side won’t want to lose the Spaniard on a free transfer then it’s in their interests to get a deal done soon or they can bet their bottom dollar that Liverpool will swoop in to bag the midfielder on a free transfer.

In just four months time the Reds can negotiate a pre-contract with Alcantara, Bayern may need to budge sooner rather than later.
