Liverpool don’t need to make too many changes to their squad this summer. The Reds have already been crowned champions of everything in the last year and a bit, the boss would be best served keeping the current squad as is. The only additions that need to be made are to the backup brigade. Now that Dejan Lovren has departed we will need a new fourth choice striker. Tifo has backed Liverpool to sign Malick Thiaw – a recently reported target.

Liverpool target Malick Thiaw

Since the departure of Dejan Lovren the papers have linked the Reds with a multitude of centre backs.

Back in March the Mirror reported that Liverpool were pursuing Malick Thiaw of Schalke.

The report stated that the Reds would be able to bag the 19-year-old for a bargain fee given that the German club are in dire straits at the minute. There is also the matter of his £7m release clause.

‘Sensible transfer’

As part of their ongoing Sensible Transfers series Tifo recently covered the Reds hunt for a centre back.

The outlet had previously cited Kostas Tsimikas as a potential target for the club, months later we completed the move.

When Tifo were weighing up the options for Liverpool they chose Thiaw as the side’s best option this summer.

In the video they praise the defender for being proactive, possessing a good passing range and for his ability to close down space.

What RTK has to say

We put great stock into the analysis of Tifo. The company has in the past been bang on the money with their assessments and we’d be surprised if their videos weren’t being watched by some scouts at the highest level.

Now a part of the reputable outlet The Athletic we can trust their judgement even further.

Thiaw would certainly make the most sense out of all of the defenders the club has been linked with recently, not in the least because of how inexpensive he could be.

The club doesn’t have mountains of cash to throw about at the minute so a young, cut price option would suit FSG down to the ground.
