Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to reports, as Lyon wait for an offer. We believe the player would be a great signing.
This one is from RMC Sport in France. The outlet claims that the Reds want Aouar but are one of four looking at the player. Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus all want him, too, apparently.
It does stress that there has been no direct contact with Lyon, though. The French side are merely waiting, as they hope to receive an offer worth around £45m.
They’re not the first outlet to link Aouar and Liverpool, either. The Mirror claimed a month ago that Aouar was actually one of the Reds’ two major targets this summer.
Whether they can still afford to pursue him and Timo Werner is another matter, however. The current economic climate makes things difficult to spend big.
But it would appear that Liverpool still want Aouar, according to RMC, at least.
What RTK has to say
This is quite an exciting one, actually. We said back in March that Aouar would be a perfect alternative to Kai Havertz and we stand by that.
The problem with Havertz is his price, of course, with Liverpool apparently valuing him at half of his £80m price. And that was before the economic troubles.
Aouar may be easier to get done, though. Cheaper, certainly, and available, too, according to l’Equipe. It’s another wait and see, of course, as we don’t know if Liverpool can spend this kind of money.
Hopefully they can make an offer, though, as we really do think Aouar would be a great addition.
