Inter will wait and see what Barcelona do before moving for Timo Werner, according to reports. They won’t immediately take advantage of Liverpool’s caution.
Gazzetta Dello Sport claims that Inter will be patient. They are likely to sell Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona but until that move happens, they won’t aim for a replacement.
They would like that replacement to be Werner, surely the best available striker on the market right now. Liverpool appear to think so, anyway, but won’t move yet. The Reds are playing things cautiously, waiting to see how things develop economically.
That should leave a wide-open opportunity for Inter to steal in but their own caution might cause them to miss that chance.
What RTK has to say
This certainly makes a lot of sense and goes along with several other reports. This isn’t the first time that Gazzetta have said that Werner is Inter’s target, for one thing.

More than that, it agrees with the Independent’s belief that Liverpool will play things cautious this summer.
We recently wrote about the part Barcelona have to play in Liverpool’s Werner pursuit. Certainly, Gazzetta’s report backs that up. It looks as though Inter, surely Liverpool’s biggest rival for the German, still aren’t even sure that they need him.
That won’t last forever, though. If Barcelona do push through a deal for Martinez, Inter will immediately turn to Werner.
Then it just depends on Liverpool’s stance. In some ways, they’ve got the same opportunity as Inter – time to make a decision. Whoever makes theirs first, however, will surely get the player.
