Dayot Upamecano wants to play in the Premier League, according to reports. This comes as bad news to Paris Saint-Germain, who want the defender.

Spanish outlet Sport makes the claim. They say that PSG, already limited by the current economic climate, are going to struggle to sign Upamecano.

Barcelona, too, haven’t got the best chances as the Frenchman wants the Premier League. That comes as good news to others, however.

Three Premier League sides reportedly want Upamecano. Sky Sports, for one, said last week that both Manchester United and Manchester City want the player. Passione Inter says that Liverpool want Upamecano to replace Dejan Lovren.

Chances are, then, that one of the trio will get him. As Sport says, RB Leipzig will look to sell the player now, rather than lose him for free in a year. While per that Sky Sports report, he has a £52.5m release clause.

What RTK has to say

It’s good news for Liverpool but it might not change much if that Sky report is correct. As we’ve said before, the Reds may struggle to compete with their rivals on this one.

Still, this does point things in the right direction. Liverpool can certainly offer Premier League football, as well as a shining track record of development to the elite level.

The only questions, then, are first-team football and financial. If the club can tick his boxes on those, too, this one isn’t beyond the realm of possibility.
