Liverpool are set to have a massive summer sale in the coming months. Michael Edwards will be hard at work, calling up directors around the world doing his best Del Boy impression as he cons them into spending extortionate amounts of money on our fringe players. One such player certain to be heading for an exit could be on his way to Turkey with Fotomac reporting that Xherdan Shaqiri is wanted by Galatasaray.
Liverpool signed Little Big Jed Shaqiri from Stoke in 2018, paying The Potters a paltry £13m for the winger.
The mercurial talent has had a journeyed but successful career.
Prior to joining The Reds the Swiss international had already won the Champions League with Bayern Munich.
How he ended up at Stoke is a mystery, it was quickly apparent that he was far too good to be playing for them, he made this clear with his lack of defensive effort.
Whilst he has impressed when afforded a chance for Liverpool he is pretty nailed on to leave in the summer as he is unlikely to get any first team football in the near future and the club are likely losing patience with his injuries.
According to Fotomac in Turkey, Xherdan Shaqiri is wanted by Galatasaray with the club wanting to take him on loan initially with an option to buy.
What RTK has to say
This move has its pros and cons. If we were to send him out on loan to Turkey then we aren’t guaranteed a transfer fee for him.
However, he would be out of sight and out of mind, we aren’t likely to be threatened by Galatasaray in the near future.
Our other option is to sell him to an interested party such as Roma but if we were to do that we could be strengthening a continental rival.
