Liverpool handed Bellingham boost if Dortmund report is correct

This summer Liverpool will likely focus their energies on signing younger players. The Reds’ first team don’t need an overhaul any time soon and are all tied down to long term contracts. With Michael Edwards turning to bright prospects, Liverpool have been given a boost in their reported pursuit of Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool were linked with Jude Bellingham back in January by 90Min.

The youngster has been gathering interest from throughout Europe thanks to his performances in the Championship.

Bellingham is just 16-years-old and has established himself as a mainstay in the Birmingham City midfield.

The teenager has started 25 games this season, making seven appearances from the bench.

During these games he has banged in four goals and picked up two assists.

The youngster is noted for his versatility, he has played in no less than seven positions for the Blues this season, according to WhoScored.

Since Liverpool were linked with Bellingham he has since been declared to be close to joining Borussia Dortmund. However, The Mirror has reported that Borussia Dortmund have abandoned their pursuit of the midfielder.

What RTK has to say

If Liverpool are indeed chasing Jude Bellingham then having Dortmund drop out of the race is a huge boost.

The German Bundesliga has become something of a proving ground for talented young footballers from England in recent years.

Serge Gnabry and Jadon Sancho are just two players that have made the switch to Germany in pursuit of first team football in the top flight.

Bellingham undoubtedly has a bright career ahead of him, at just 16-years-old he is a regular in the Championship. We should go all out for him, if Sky Sports‘ £30m figure is correct he could turn out to be a bargain.
