This January was an interesting one for Liverpool fans. The Reds actually made a couple of signings. Michael Edwards brought in Joe Hardy from Brentford and Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg. We haven’t seen much of our new Japanese forward but Kopites have learned patience since Jürgen Klopp took over. Trent Alexander-Arnold has made a claim about Takumi Minamino which Kopites will love.
Minamino arrived from Red Bull Salzburg for a paltry £7.25m during the winter transfer window.
Kopites were overjoyed by his signing. The Japanese forward had terrorised us in the Champions League, scoring a fantastic goal at Anfield. His pittance of a transfer fee was the icing on the cake.
Since joining we haven’t seen a tremendous amount from the attacker. However, if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Jürgen Klopp it is that he is unafraid to bide his time when it comes to blooding new additions.
One of the concerns that fans had about how long it would take the ex-Salzburg man to settle in was that he speaks a few language but not English.

Speaking to GQ, Trent Alexander-Arnold has claimed that Takumi Minamino has been picking up English rapidly:
“I’d probably say Takumi [Minamino] [struggles with my accent the most].
“He didn’t speak a lot of English when he first came, but he is probably the fastest learner I’ve ever seen for someone learning a language.”
What RTK has to say
It’s great to see that our bargain buy is settling in well.
As somebody with a thick Merseyside accent, I can empathise with how hard it is for people to understand the accent at times.
Learning the language will be a crucial step towards Minamino getting more game time, if he can communicate with his teammates on the field effectively then he can strike up a better understanding with them.
