Liverpool have the strongest squad in the world at the minute. The Reds are world champions and have earned the title because they have few identifiably weaknesses and dozens of strengths. One of their strengths is at right back – Rio Ferdinand has been drooling over Trent Alexander-Arnold during an Instagram Live stream.
Trent has spent the past few years establishing himself as the best right back in world football.
The Scouser in our team has demonstrated an intelligence and maturity that have set him apart from the pack.
His vision on the pitch is unparalleled in his position, as his passing range. He has often been compared to Kevin De Bruyne such is his defence splitting ability.
Speaking during an Instagram Live stream, Rio Ferdinand waxed lyrical about the Trent Alexander-Arnold performance against Atletico Madrid:
“I saw [Trent] against Atletico Madrid. From right back, for 45 minutes during the first half…he controlled that game.
“The last person I saw do something like that was maybe Cafu, he played every pass in the book.
“The Atletico Madrid defence was scampering all over the gaff. Trent Alexander-Arnold is a mad footballer, the kid can play.”
What RTK has to say
Rio knows his onions.
The Manchester United legend is spot on with his assessment of the Atletico match.
Trent had one of the finest games we’ve seen from him all season, bettered perhaps only by his showing against Leicester City.
The Reds were unfortunate to go out that night, Trent’s performance deserved to see him in the next round – he did everything right.
We can’t wait to see him back at it, spraying passess all over the pitch.
