This summer is going to be an interesting one for Liverpool. The Reds are poised for one of their busiest windows in recent seasons, they have money to burn thanks to lucrative commercial deals and miserly operating in the last couple of windows. According to Sky Germany, Liverpool want Denis Zakaria but will need to make an ‘immoral offer’.

Liverpool’s interest in Denis Zakaria is well documented.

The Swiss international has been a leading light this season in an impressive Borussia Monchengladbach side.

Gladbach are currently fourth in the league, six points off top spot – they topped the table for a majority of the start of the season.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been in fine fettle during this impressive campaign.

He has notched two goals and two assists despite operating as a deep lying midfielder. WhoScored has given him an average rating of 7.15 across his 22 appearances in the league.

According to Sky Germany, Liverpool ‘want to attack’ the Swiss international in the next window but will have make an ‘immoral offer’.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool signing Denis Zakaria would be an excellent move.

The midfielder fits the bill of an FSG signing perfectly. He is young, physically fit and has bags of potential.

The obvious stumbling block is the ‘immoral’ transfer fee being touted. The Reds haven’t been bullied into exuberant fees since Michael Edwards has taken over our recruitment policy.

However, we have paid what it takes for our top targets – see Virgil van Dijk.
