Liverpool have operated with surgical precision in the transfer market in recent seasons. Michael Edwards has become a paragon of frugality, he has been getting obscene amounts of money for bang average players and has spent that money wisely. One of the director’s best sales could be set for a Premier League return. Sport in Spain has claimed that Chelsea are looking at taking Philippe Coutinho on loan.

Liverpool sold Coutinho to Barcelona in 2018. The Reds squeezes the La Liga giants for £142m.

The Brazilian never got going at the Camp Nou.

Coutinho failed to live up to his incredible price tag and after 18 months he was loaned out to Bayern Munich. He has spent the season in Bavaria trying to resurrect his career.

There have been indications that the German side won’t be taking up their option to sign the midfielder at the end of the season.

With his future in the Bundesliga up in the air, Barcelona are exploring other avenues. Sport has claimed that the Catalan club want €90m for the playmaker but are willing to let him leave on another loan deal provided the finances are right.

Chelsea are said to be interested in taking Coutinho on for the season.

What RTK has to say

Look, we still aren’t that fond of the way he forced the move. However, we are pretty over his loss given that he gave us so many fond memories and we used his transfer fee wisely (see Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker).

To see him join one of our arch enemies would be a dagger through the heart.

Just not Chelsea, please Phil. Please. Do you know how much it hurt seeing Fernando Torres in that Chelsea kit?

To see Philly join the Stamford Bridge outfit would hurt, no matter how our time with him ended. We wouldn’t be against taking him back ourselves. Just join Tottenham or someone else please. Please.
