The football is gone, it’s just gone. It is confusing. What do we do? What do people do on Saturdays? Mondays are back to how awful they were before MNF. With the conclusion of this season up in the air, many Kopites are sweating over the status of the title. Liverpool fans have much less need to worry than many other fans.
As it stands, The Reds are 25 points clear a the top of the table.
At the minute there is no knowing just if or how the season will be wrapped up. Kopites are understandably worried that they may be denied their first title in 30 years.
However, even if a resolution was reached that prevented us from the title, every reasonable football fan in the land would still recognise Jürgen Klopp’s side as champions.
For other clubs, a ‘null and void’ scenario is a nightmare situation. There are clubs that are threatened with relegation that still have time to escape, there are teams that could have promotion snatched from their grasp.
For Leeds United the season not being concluded could rob them of a return to the top flight which as we all know is worth well over £100m.
Not only would they not have the windfall of promotion, they would also be denied the gate receipts they would have received for the rest of the season.
For Liverpool fans not winning the title would be a short term pain. For fans of other clubs, the collapse of this season could have serious long term implications for their side.
Short term financial strains can force decisions such as selling key players, setting the club back in the long term. Our concerns are vain in comparison to the plight of others.
